Fishing is a one of those hobbies that gives you the mental image of cold, misty mornings with a fishing rod, a vest with some feathers sticking out of it, and a cooler just waiting for its daily catch. While this is accurate, to some point, there are more options out there when you're looking to get out and go fishing.
For instance, magnet fishing.
And no, it's not fishing literally for magnets.
What is it?
Simply put, magnet fishing is when you secure strong magnets – arguably, the best option on the market is the neodymium magnet – and to a super strong rope and plunk it in the water to see what you can “catch”. Simple, but oh so much fun, magnet fishing is a popular hobby amongst anglers and treasure hunters. There is a certain mystique about it that just makes it a whole lot of fun, and it's enjoyable no matter how experienced you are.
What should I know about it?
First of all, fishing magnets are made differently in terms of their core strength. They are all strong, of course, but they range in their strength, depending on how much pulling power you want your magnet to have.
Think of it as a metal detector under water. The more powerful the detector is, the more it'll pick up. The same can be said for the magnet at the end of your rod, only “picking up” is literal in this case.
So...why should I want to learn about magnet fishing?
While it doesn't seem all to complex, it's not intended to me! Magnet fishing is fun for the entire family, and it's one of the few fishing hobbies that isn't going to cost you a lot of money or time in terms of education. You simply purchase a magnet fishing kit and head out to see just what it can catch. It's a unique way to enjoy some fishing, and you really never know what you're going to find in the water.
If you've ever tried to dig for buried treasure or you secretly wanted to find some old, expensive jewelry lost at sea from a pirate ship, magnet fishing could be precisely the activity to make your dream come true.
The best thing is that, even with the worst of luck, it's still fun. You'll catch a few coins here, a hunk of metal, there.
The mystery continues and it's a great sport to partake in when you want to be sure that you'll have a fun and exciting outing each time you go.
From traditional anglers to treasure chest enthusiasts, magnet fishing – with the proper magnet fishing kit in hand – is going to be exciting, unique, full of adventure and, above all else, fun for the entire family.
No matter where you drop your magnet, its going to bring something up on the other end that you just never expected. Is there anything more exciting or mysterious? We think not.
